Stage 1: The Prelims (The Filter) 🔍
This is the first stage. Thousands of students take this test. It is like a "shortlisting" to find the most serious and capable students. It has multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Where you get four options, and you have to choose the correct one. Target: Just to cross the target score!. Breaking Down Level 1: The Prelims Syllabus 📚
In the Prelims, there are two papers that you have to give on the same first day.
Paper 1: General Studies (GS)
This paper is about everything happening in the world. It includes:
History: Stories about Indian kings, the British rule, and how India gets freedom.
Geography: About mountains, rivers, maps, and different animals' lives.
Polity: How our government body works. Who is the president? Who is the Prime Minister? How do we vote?
Science: Topics like how plants grow, what space is, and how technology works.
Current Affairs: This is the most important part!
Paper 2: CSAT (Maths and Logic)
This is like a brain gym. Maths: Simple puzzles, numbers, and charts (usually up to the Class 10 level). Logic: Puzzles that check if you can think fast and solve problems. Reading: Reading a paragraph and answering questions about it.

Language Papers (2 Papers)
India has many beautiful languages. You have to pass one paper in English and one paper in an Indian language (like Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, etc.). These are just to make sure you can read and write well.
The Essay Paper (1 Paper)
Here, you are given a topic, and you have to write a very long and beautiful essay. It could be about "How to save the Earth" or "Why education is important for girls". General Studies (GS) - The Four Big Folders

GS Paper 1 (Culture and Society)
This is about Indian art (like the Taj Mahal), how people live in India, and how the world was shaped by history.
